On Thursday, 27th, and Friday, 28th February 2025, the MPD-Youth Scholars team embarked on a two-day test run outing to Doma, Nasarawa State. The objective was to strengthen Islamic brotherhood, enlighten the Muslim community on the significance of monotheism, and address pressing social and economic challenges affecting society.
A delegation of seven departed from Abuja at approximately 8:00 AM, under the leadership of the National Ameer, Alh. Umar Faruk Bello. The team comprised Imam Shehu Ibrahim, Engr. Haruna Mu’azu, Hamza Isah Muhammad (Executive Secretary), Imam Shamsuddeen, Mal. Sulaiman, Mal. Usman, and Mal. AbdulHamid Yola. En route, the team made a stop in Keffi, where they were joined by four distinguished members: Dr. Bala Yau (MPD Ameer, Nasarawa State Chapter), Dr. Jibril Umar, and Mal. Zakariya Muhammad. The journey progressed, and the team arrived in Doma around 3:00 PM.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received at the palace by His Royal Highness, the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Oga Onawo. Under the guidance of Mal. Tanko Doma (MPD Nasarawa teachers’ supervisor), the team was ushered into the royal court, where the National Ameer formally introduced the purpose of the visit. He emphasized MPD’s commitment to fostering unity among Muslims, educating them on the tenets of monotheism, and providing solutions to societal challenges.
In response, the Andoma expressed profound gratitude for the visit and acknowledged its timeliness. He noted that Doma had been grappling with the rise of internet fraud (yahoo boys) and other social vices. Despite the Emirate’s concerted efforts alongside Islamic scholars, these issues persisted. He commended MPD for extending its da’awah efforts beyond calling non-Muslims to Islam and now focusing on the well-being of Muslims themselves.
As a demonstration of his unwavering support, the Andoma provided befitting accommodation for the team and offered all necessary assistance. Furthermore, he directed all Imams in Doma to grant MPD full access to their mosques for da’awah activities, a directive that was met with unanimous agreement.
That evening, the team divided into four groups and visited different mosques between Maghrib and Isha prayers. Each group sensitized the congregations on the importance of monotheism and the need to tackle social and economic challenges within the community. In some mosques, MPD members were honored with the privilege of leading the Isha prayer.
The following morning, similar engagements were carried out across seven Jumu’ah mosques, covering various sects. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, with congregants expressing deep appreciation for the initiative. Many urged MPD to sustain such outreach programs, recognizing their immense impact on the spiritual and moral upliftment of the community.
At approximately 5:00 PM on Friday, 28th February 2025, the team departed from Doma. Before proceeding to Abuja, the National Ameer led the delegation to Keffi for a courtesy visit to Prof. Muhammad Alkafawiy following his successful surgery at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika. The visit was aimed at offering prayers for his swift recovery and expressing MPD’s goodwill.
Subsequently, the team resumed their journey but encountered significant traffic congestion around Masaka town. As a result, an alternative route through Karshi-Orozo Road was taken, ensuring their eventual safe arrival in Abuja around midnight.
This outing was a resounding success, reinforcing MPD’s bond with the Muslim community in Doma, securing the full support of the Andoma and local Imams, and effectively disseminating knowledge on critical Islamic and social issues. The impact of this initiative underscores the necessity of sustained engagement in similar communities, as well as the importance of nurturing young scholars for greater da’awah outreach.
MPD extends its deepest appreciation to the erudite scholars who participated in this noble endeavor. Their unwavering commitment, profound knowledge, and tireless dedication were instrumental in the success of this mission. May Allah (SWT) reward them abundantly and grant them the strength to continue in the service of Islam.
We are equally grateful to the Andoma of Doma, the Imams, and the entire Muslim community of Doma for their hospitality and unwavering support. It is our earnest prayer that Allah blesses and preserves them, and that this initiative marks the beginning of a long-lasting collaboration for the advancement of Islam.
مع السلامة
