The MPD Southwest Islamic Summit 2024 was held on Saturday 21st December, 2024 at the University of Ibadan Muslim Community Hall. The event brought together Muslim professionals and leaders from across the region to discuss the progress and future direction of Da’awah in Nigeria.
The summit began with opening remarks by the Southwest MPD Coordinator, Abdullahi Ogunkanmi. He expressed gratitude to the National MPD body, especially the National Amir, for their unwavering support, encouragement, and dedication to the vision of MPD. He also thanked other MPD Directors who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the summit. In his address, Ogunkanmi encouraged Muslims in the Southwest to align themselves with MPD and its mission of spreading Islam to every corner of Nigeria.
The National Amir delivered a powerful speech, emphasizing the importance of Da’awah across Nigeria. He highlighted the readiness of many Nigerians to accept the message of Islam, even in the most remote areas of the country. The Amir corrected a common misconception that everyone in the North is Muslim, pointing out that many people in the region still practice traditional religions or are non-Muslims.
The Amir introduced MPD, explaining its purpose, achievements, and the successes recorded so far. He shared that many individuals across Nigeria have embraced Islam through MPD’s efforts, with even more showing interest in accepting the faith. He commended the choice of the summit’s theme, “Together We Stand, Divided We Fall,” and urged attendees to unite, collaborate, and strengthen their collective efforts in promoting Da’awah.
The Amir also announced MPD’s plan to conduct outreach programs in five northern states next year January, 2025. He expressed MPD’s willingness to organize a similar event in the Southwest after the outing if the community desires it.

The Summit was a resounding success, inspiring participants to continue working together for the growth and development of Islam in Nigeria. The event underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving MPD’s noble goals.
