Common Questions
Honest, sourced answers to what people most often ask about Islam and MPD.
Is Islam a religion of peace?
The word "Islam" itself comes from a root meaning peace and submission to God. Muslims are taught to be just, patient, and merciful — including with those who differ from them.
Do Muslims worship the same God as Jews and Christians?
Muslims worship the One God who created the heavens and earth — the same God addressed by all prophets from Adam to Muhammad ﷺ.
Why do Muslim women wear hijab?
Modesty in dress is prescribed for both men and women. For women, hijab is an act of worship and dignity — a personal, faith-based choice.
What is Da'wah?
Da'wah means "invitation." It is inviting others — Muslims and non-Muslims — to a life aligned with Allah's guidance, through good speech, character, and action.
Do I have to be Muslim to attend MPD events?
No. Many of our public events are open to all Nigerians. You're welcome.
